Reading the Nine-Year Cycle

The cycle moves like a season: plant (1), root (2), bloom (3), build (4), turn (5), tend (6), deepen (7), harvest (8), release (9). Most frustration comes from acting against the year — trying to harvest in a planting year, or plant in a release year. The calculator tells you which season you are in; the pages in the numerology hub tell you how to work with it.

Personal Year FAQs

How is the personal year calculated?

Your birth month and birth day are added to the current calendar year, then reduced to a single digit. Birth year is not used — the personal year measures where you are in the cycle now, not who you are.

When does my personal year change?

The most common convention, and the one this calculator uses, is January 1. Some numerologists count from your birthday; if you were born late in the year, read both adjacent years and notice which describes your life better.

What is the nine-year cycle?

Numerology reads life in repeating nine-year arcs: 1 plants, 2 waits, 3 expresses, 4 builds, 5 changes, 6 tends, 7 studies, 8 harvests, 9 releases. Knowing your position in the arc explains why some years push and others pull.
